SCHOLARSHIP
In honor of the 40th Anniversary of the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Football Classic, the New York Urban League (NYUL) will provide over forty college bound students from New York City with the much needed funding to attend college. We’d like to thank our 2010 partners: Hot97, 97.7 KISS FM, Daily News, Coors Light, National Urban League, UPS, New York Yankees, Enterprise Holdings, PIX, Heart & Soul, Con Edison, Microsoft, Jacob Fuchberg Law Firm, American Airlines, Walgreens, Amsterdam News, The Beacon, Harlem News Group, NV Magazine, Daily Challenge , WWRL and The Observer.

Because of your support and the support of these great companies, this Fall students will embark upon the first step toward realizing their dreams as they step foot on-campus at Howard University, Cornell
University, Temple University, West Point Military Academy and several other prestigious educational institutions that will equip them with the tools needed to be successful in their careers and in life.

Established in 1973, NYUL dedicates revenue from the Classic towards scholarship assistance for underserved New York City students. Scholarship memorial awardees receive $3,500 and incentive awardees receive $1,500 toward reaching their academic goals. In addition to the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Scholarship, the following additional scholarships have been awarded this year:
2011 Scholarship Recipients

Whitney M. Young, Jr. Scholarship 
 This scholarship is named after Whitney M. Young, Jr. who was the Executive Director of the National Urban League from 1961–1971. Young focused on gaining equality for blacks in business, politics, and improving opportunities for the urban poor. The scholarship of $3,500 memorializes Young’s commitment to educational equity young people. 
Jordan Brand Scholar 
 Jordan Brand remains active in the community by donating a portion of its proceeds to provide education grants for teachers and non-profits. Three students have been awarded a scholarship of $7, 000 in support of their college education.
 
The Ann S. Kheel Scholarship  
  Recipients of the Ann S. Keel Scholarship, named after the former NYUL Board Member will receive $5,000 each. In addition to her years of dedicated service to underserved New Yorkers, Ann S. Kheel is the founderof NYUL’s Annual Frederick Douglass Award Dinner.  
     
The Young Professional's Emerging Leader Scholar  
  The Members of the League's Young Professionals have created a scholarship that awards outstanding students $1,500.
